statistical philosophy

I am academically raised in the church of Tukey, creator of Exploratory Data Analysis. I question all assumptions, especially distributional, and prefer methods that let me see the data or the distribution thereof. - I think statistical tests are only one way data can be useful, and one whose assumptions are often not met even when they are used -
